About The School:

The School of Floristry was born out of the idea that education should be readily available for those who need it most. The school offers 2 types of classes:

Leisure classes for professional floristry, flower arranging and other arts and crafts. These classes are open to all who wish to unleash their creative talents and create stunning floral designs to beautify their home or to give to their family and friends. You will be taught to professional standards and you may attend as many classes as you wish.

We offer Diploma courses for those who wish to train as professional florists.

Intensive courses are also available for those who have some experience and wish to brush up on their skills, learning new techniques and designs.

These courses are being taught by women and being made available exclusively for women. They will learn floral designing to professional standards. This is to enable them to discover different aspects of their creativity, realize their full potential and become self sufficient as they need to work to support themselves and their family. The School's aim is to enhance the status of women and support their active participation at all levels so as to become an instrument of change in society and alleviate poverty through education.

It is an intensive course, taught over 6 months which can be extended to 1 year (according to individual need). This course closely follows and is inspired by the British NVQ/BTEC and the Society of Floristry Certificate and Diploma courses system.

At the end of the course a certificate and professional references are given to successful students who find themselves equipped with all the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to gain employment as a professional florist and set up a business.

One course unit is solely based on business studies. Guidance and assistance will be given by professionals in the field of finance and accounting to help women access and raise the necessary finance in order to set up their own business.

Ongoing technical support and advice is and will be available from The School of Floristry to all our students studying to gain their Professional Certificate, even and especially after they have left the school.

Students are provided with theory as well as lots of practical experience on how to design bouquets, wedding decorations and bridal flowers, and prepare and set up for large corporate events.

We appreciate and understand that students come from varied academic levels and backgrounds and this professional course is taught with a minimum of theory and written tests, enabling everyone to focus on practical techniques which are so important in floral design.

Horticultural and IT skills are also part of the course.

The  School of Floristry has also produced a series of videos on floral designs and floral arrangements.
